PharmaRusical Lip-Sync Extravaganza


Welcome back! Hopefully you enjoyed last week’s review of the Season 10 premiere. This week the queens face a new challenge – a lip-sync extravaganza! But first… a mini challenge!

As Ru enters, with guest star Andy Cohen, the queens are tasked with getting into country-western drag in 20 minutes to then perform a hoedown. After some questionable dancers, and some talented ones too, Asia O’Hara and The Vixen are declared the mini challenge winners.

Dubbed team captains, Asia O’Hara and The Vixen pick the remainder of their teams and are given a script to assign their team members characters. 

Asia’s Team – Aquaria, Dusty Ray Bottoms, Kalorie Karbdashian Williams, Eureka, Monique Heart and Yuhua Hamasaki.
The Vixen’s Team – Blair St. Clair, Kameron Michaels, Mayhem Miller, Miz Cracker and Monét Exchange.

In each team, the queens pick characters according to their own personalities and begin to rehearse their lines. Hostilities arise in Team Vixen doesn’t allow her teammates to have an input when deciding their roles. Team Asia have similar issues when Eureka, a vivacious pageant queen, voices her opinions and Asia refuses to consider them. 

Both teams must perform the lip-sync live with choreography, choreographed by the famous Alyssa Edwards – a season 5 drag race alumni.

Though Team Asia had prepared some choreography, Kalorie has issues with choreography and Eureka scares herself into thinking she’ll reinjure herself. Team Vixen enters their practice empty handed and leaves Alyssa disgruntled with their efforts. Blair St. Clair, a theatre queen with a dance background, struggles to pick up choreography and Team Vixen are worried they won’t match up against Asia’s team. 

In front of Ru, Michelle Visage, Carson Kresley and guest judges Halsey and Padma Lakshmi the queens perform their PharmaRusical lip-sync extravaganza, promoting products such as Conflama. The performance was overall exceptional, with Team Vixen really shining despite prior concerns. However some queens didn’t know their words and many were lost amongst other queens in their group.

The judges declare Team Vixen the winner and the main challenge winner is The Vixen, for her leadership skills. The remainder of her team is safe.

The runway look was 'Very Best Drag' but the judges weren't unanimous. Some critiques were harsh but others praised queens for standing out in such a large group.

Asia O’Hara was the first to be judged and received good critiques for her ‘seamless look’.

The judges suggested Yuhua was very animated in her performance but her look wasn’t ‘best drag’ according to Michelle.

Guest judge Halsey adored Dusty’s runway and Michelle really loved that she didn’t do her signature dots.

In the performance, Monique Heart wasn’t remembered. The judges acknowledged her bodysuit was creative but the storyline of the outfit was lost.

The judges thought Kalorie got lost in the performance and when she was seen, didn’t know the words. As for her outfit, they commented her best drag isn’t necessarily ‘best’.

Eureka, like many of the other queens, wore a bodysuit however it was not representative of her ‘best drag’. In her performance, she didn’t know the words and faded into the background.

Aquaria dazzled the judges as an amazing dancer, however her transformation between young and old wasn’t as bold as they had liked. 

The bottom two of the week was Eureka O’Hara and Kalorie Karbdashian Williams, lip-syncing to The Emotions’ song – Best of My Love. The winner is Eureka O’Hara, unfortunately eliminating New Mexico’s first ever drag race queen, Kalorie.

The top TOOT of this week is Dusty Ray Bottoms. The striped blazer and big wig, accentuating Dusty’s gorgeous legs, was a win for me and was also popular with the judges.

The top BOOT of the week was again Asia O’Hara – her pageant looks are outdated where other queens showcase current fashion trends. The judges gave her good critiques but it was not my favourite look.

Though it is said to see Kalorie sashay away, we can't wait to see who wins season 10! Hope to see you again next week!
