RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE SEASON 10 - EPISODE 1

Gentleman, start your engines and may the best woman win!

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 aired on March 22- introducing 14 new queens to audiences all around the world. 

 For those who have never seen Drag Race, each drag queen must audition for the show and upon entering, do not know who is competing alongside them (although they may be familiar). As per tradition, they each enter on the first episode one at a time and give a quick introduction. RuPaul's Drag Race first aired in 2009 and has since grown to be a worldwide phenomenon - airing ten regular seasons and three all stars seasons (where queens return to compete for a place in the 'Hall of Fame').

 The 14 Queens enter the WerkRoom as the first episode begins! Meet each queen now.

 Eureka O'Hara - A returning queen from Season 9. 
City - Johnson City, Tennessee

 Asia O'Hara 
City - Dallas, Texas

 Miz Cracker - With possibly my favourite entrance line!

Yuhua Hamasaki

 Blair St Clair - The first queen to ever come from Indiana!

 Mayhem Miller - One of LA's most famous drag queens, who has auditioned for years.

Kalorie Karbdashian Williams - The first ever queen to represent New Mexico on Drag Race

Following their entrances, the queens began to get to know each other, some even recognising queens from their local area or those who are Instagram famous. Once every queen had entered they were introduced to their mini challenge – to work the runway amongst queens of past seasons. 

 Dancing to RuPaul's songs, each queen vogued and strutted the runway with the queens of the past 10 seasons - including some of my favourites Katya and Trixie Mattel.

 After slaying the runway, Monét Exchange is declared the winner.

 As the queens begin to de-drag they see how each queen looks like as a man, a scene full of surprises in each and every season of Drag Race. As RuPaul enters the room, all eyes are drawn to him - 14 drag queens who idolise his legacy. For this week's main challenge, the queens have to make their own outfits with dollar store products – Drag on a Dime, an ode to the first ever Drag Race challenge. 

While the queens sew and construct their outfits, cliques form and friendships begin to blossom. Also, the longstanding issues of Cracker and Aquaria’s similarities arise – leaving Cracker defensive about her makeup. 

 Each queen walks the runway in their dollar store couture, impressing Ru and the other judges. Following their runway presentation, Ru declares Aquaria, Kameron Michaels, Eureka O'Hara, Monique Heart, Asia O'Hara, Monét Exchange and The Vixen safe.

 Forming the Top (the best queens of the week) is Blair St Clair, Yuhua Hamasaki, Miz Cracker and the winner of the week - Mayhem Miller


The Bottom (the worst queens of the week) for the week consisted of Dusty Ray Bottoms and the two lipsyncers - Vanessa Vanjie Mateo and Kalorie Karbdashian Williams.

 Lip-syncing to Christina Aguilera's Ain't No Other Man, Kalorie comes out victorious and Vanessa is sent home.

 Vanessa Vanjie Mateo is the first queen to be eliminated in Season 10 of RuPaul's Drag Race but her legendary status remains. Her exit phrase is set to be the most iconic of this season!


 As per the tradition of Raja and Raven, in Fashion Photo Ruview, I'll be giving my top toot (best outfit) and top boot (worst outfit) of each week. 

 TOP TOOT - Monique Heart, though she is not my favourite queen her look was definitely polished and well put together. Her hair piece made out of plastic was gorgeous.


TOP BOOT - Monét Exchange's sponge look just didn't soak in with me. Her conceptual thinking went over everyone's heads and she simply looked like a frumpy pineapple, thus she is this week's top boot.

 For future reference, here is a glossary of terms you might need to know. Drag Race fans have a very specific set of terminology that has evolved since the premiere of Drag Race in 2009.

 WerkRoom - The room in which the queens get ready, make their outfits, and complete their mini challenges.
Shade - A nasty comment said off the cuff to tease another queen, not often with bad intentions
Tea - Gossip
Pageant Queen - A drag queen who competes in beauty pageants
Comedy Queen - A drag queen who does comedy
TOOT - An outfit that you like 
BOOT - An ugly outfit
Drag Mother - The person that first put you into drag / helped you get in to drag becomes your drag mother
Drag Daughter - If you are a drag queen, and you have put someone into drag, they are your drag daughter
